What a stunning star quilt. Parallel stripes accent the beauty of this

8-pointed star. Fabrics of light and dark shades adds to its brilliance as well as provide a 3D effect. Like an exploding star it streaks outward from the center.

As is the case with many quilts, this is deceptive in that it is much easier to make than it appears. This quilt was designed for our booth at the Houston International Quilt Market & Festival.

The striated, or stripped, look comes from strip piecing the fabric before it is cut into the striated rays of the star. She show how to incorporate special mitered junctions to allow the corner half stars to be positioned at a 45 degree angle around the center star while preserving the lines, points, and look of the design.

Ruth also leads you step-by-step through the methods of getting professional looking inset corners to keep the top nice and flat.
